Miki's parents would divorce and then swap partners with another couple named the Matsuuras! Then, the Matsuura's, the Koishikawa's, Miki, and the Matsuura's handsome son named Yuu, who is Miki's age, would all live in one house together like a big, happy, bizarre family. Yuu has a intrest in annoying Miki and playing jokes on her. Miki discovers that Yuu is her definition of marmalade, sweet with a very bitter streak. Miki and Yuu begin to fall in love with each other.
To make matters worse, Miki's old crush, the tennis champ Ginta Suuo, confesses his love for her. He confessed to her now due to a misunderstanding when Miki wrote him a love letter back in junior high! Also, Yuu's old girlfriend named Arimi Suzuki shows up and wants Yuu back! Arimi and Ginta, who both became desperate, decided to pretend they were going out in order to make Miki jealous so she'd date Ginta and Arimi could have Yuu again. This whole thing only makes matters worse, Miki can't decide who she likes more: Ginta or Yuu. Then, Miki's best friend Meiko Akizuki, has an affair with Mr. Shinichi Namura, a teacher at Miki's school. Meiko needs Miki's support when Mr. Namura leaves town to forget about Meiko! Finally, a boy named Satoshi Miwa takes a special intrest in Yuu. Rummors fly that these two handsome boys are involved! Can Miki ever fix her dramatic life, find out if Yuu is involved with Satoshi, get used to her family, help Meiko, and decide who the boy of her dreams is? FInd out in Marmalade Boy.
