Gantz is a manga series by Hiroya Oku, later broadcast as an anime.

Gantz tells the story of individuals who have died, but are mysteriously brought back to life by the enigmatic Gantz in order to run missions to kill monsters and alien life forms. The story follows Kurono Kei, a young and arrogant man who is struck by a train while attempting to save an elderly woman in a subway.

The manga began publication in October of 2000, and is still in publication with 276 chapters compiled into 23 volumes. The anime aired in two 13 episode segments during 2004.

Plot

First Phase

The first phase of the manga includes all events from the initial "death" of Kurono Kei, through his adventures and growth as part of the Tokyo Gantz Team, until his death at the hands of the mysterious vampires.

Second Phase

The second phase began publication in 2007, and starts just after the death of Kurono Kei, as the Tokyo Gantz Team is transported on a strange mission to Osaka, where they encounter the Osaka Team.
