+Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン Shin Seiki Evangelion) is a series produced by GAINAX which aired from October 1995 to March 1996. It is an extremely influential and popular anime, so much that new merchandise is still being created over ten years after its original release. It is also the cause of much controversy, due to its often cryptic, ambiguous nature which generally leaves the viewers to form their own conclusions about the meaning or outcome of various events. Another controversial aspect is the use of Judeo-Christian names and imagery, which the production team claimed was included "to look cool", but many fans believe this to be untrue.
