Genshiken: The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture is a completed manga series by manga-ka Kio Shimoku about the life of a modern otaku. It was serialised in Afternoon, a magazine published by Kodansha that aims to cater to the older clientèle, and had a total of 9 published volumes as well as an anime adaptation that spanned two seasons. The anime is yet to be concluded though.

Genshiken's story follows the story of Kanji SASAHARA and his day to day activities in the Genshiken, a club solely dedicated to appreciating manga, anime and video games.
