Patlabor, also known as Mobile Police Patlabor, is a popular franchise in the Mecha genre. The classic franchise consists of a manga, tv series, two OVA series, three animated full-length feature films, a live-action movie soon to be released, two light novels, and a short film compilation.
The story itself centers around Noa Izumi as a bright young new member of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2, her "labor" Alphonse, and the rest of her crew. "Labors" themselves are mechanical suits created for just that labor. So most of them are in construction, fire fighting, military, and also the Police for when the machines or their pilots go rouge or get dangerous.
