Ranma 1/2: released in 1989 by Kitty (Viz in the US), the anime follows the manga written by Takahashi Rumiko.
Akane is a normal girl who suddenly finds herself betrothed to a strange young man who shows up at her door. Ranma is just as opposed to the marriage set-up by the pair's parents. Things become more complicated when it's revealed that Ranma and his father have fallen into enchanted springs which cause their bodies to transform on contact with cold water. The problem can be reversed with warm water, but Akane finds life with a boy who turns girl complicated.
