Plot
Keima Katsuragi is a student who constantly plays bishojo video games (or gal games) to a point where he is considered The God of Conquests because he can "conquest" any 2D girl in the video game world. Although in real life, Keima is the opposite of his online persona: he's anti-social and becomes known as otamegane (the two words "otaku" and "glasses" combined) throughout his school.
One day, Keima receives a contract to conquer girls; he believes it is a challenge and accepts. A few moments after, Elsie, a demon from Hell, appears. She tells Keima that she needs him to help her catch runaway spirits, which are said to be hiding in the gaps of girls' hearts, and the best way to capture them is to make the girl fall in love. Keima at first rejects this offer, but then reluctantly accepts after Elsie tells him they will both be beheaded if they do not capture the spirits.
