Early life
Rukia and her older sister, [Kuchiki Hisana]lived in Rukongai. Hisana was afraid that she would not be able to support Rukia and herself, and abandoned Rukia as a baby.Rukia knew nothing of her sister and how she came to be in Rukongai. She stayed at a place with couple of street kids who had no place to stay went, and there she met [Abarai Renji]. Even if she was young, when she saw kids being abused, she'd protect them. And she and [Abarai Renji] and their friends wanted to become shinigami and ebtered the academy.
Academy Days
Rukia was not really a good shinigami at first. She had to stay in the newb class, while Abarai stay in the special advanced class. She did not stay long in the academy because, after a while, [Kuchiki Byakuya], Hisana's husband, took her in to the [Kuchiki Clan]. After that, she immediately graduated from the academy and was placed under [Ukitake Jushiro], 13th Squad Captain.
