This page is going to take a while to piece together. -_- - Xero

its ok ^^ take your time. It looks great Xero ~Minako

I forgot parts of the Soul Society Arc, so I'm having to go back and re-read 125 or so chapters of the manga...time consuming... - Xero XIII 22:46, 17 November 2006 (EST)

SLACKER!!!!! :p ~Minako

Bah! I'm doing this voluntarily... :D - Xero XIII 17:02, 18 November 2006 (EST)

I'm looking at the table of contents, and it seems a little long. Maybe we can remove some of the sub headings, just turn them to bold text instead? (Like individual races, and story arc names) In my opinion, that might make it look a little nicer. Anyone agree? Regex

Well, the reason for the sub-headings in the TOC is so that if someone wants to look for something specific, they can just click the name, as opposed to scrolling through the entire section of the article. Considering that most parts of the overall article will be expanding as the story continues, especially the "Arrancar" and "Vizard" sections, seeing as they are relatively new terms in the manga, and neither has been explained in great detail. I figured it would be more simple to the reader. - Xero XIII 22:17, 18 November 2006 (EST)

Souhi, if you read this, thanks for doing the Bount Arc. I have a habit of not watching filler. - Xero XIII 16:02, 19 November 2006 (EST)

I think a long TOC is not really a prob, and as Xero said it can help when youre looking for something specific. however i think that there should be more single articles about the topics. Things like races, Zanpakutou, the story arcs should here only be summarized very short and have a more extensive version in a main article. because with an article this long you really do lose the overview somehow when youre not familiar with the show/series. --HKK 11:04, 24 January 2007 (EST)

That's what I've been planning on doing. I'd like to finish the larger articles here and then move them into separate pages, replacing them with briefer summaries. Xero XIII 15:33, 12 February 2007 (EST)

Yoruichi

Just want to double check, after I already made the change.. Yoruichi's family name was spelled Shihoui, but everywhere I looked said Shihouin... Am I wrong? Regex

If I put Shihoui, that's a mistake on my part. Shihouin Yoruichi is the proper name. Xero XIII 15:33, 12 February 2007 (EST)

Names

Im not sure but i think Regex mentioned this somewhere once. ayways, i wanted to suggest a standardization of the names formatting, especially for Japanese names, maybe in the format SURNAME first name(s).
as with Japanese names there is always the question which is the surname (jap: surname first, eng: surname last). by capitalizing the surname, it wouldnt matter too much if its mixed up, but having the same way all over animepedia would be cool.
i dont wanna change it in this article myself cuz im not into Bleach and thus dunno which are the surnames and which not. you can see how i imagine it in the Full Moon wo Sagashite article that im occasionally working on. --HKK 11:39, 17 February 2007 (EST)

"Hollow" Story Arc badly put together

I noticed that running through this page is talk as if the first 21 episodes comprise a story arc. I don't understand why this is. First of all a story arc is a story, and as such has the sorts of structures stories do which includes a beginning, middle, and end. Most have the typical sort of structure mentioned in the wikipedia entry on the subject:

Stories tend to contain certain core elements of dramatic structure: exposition (the introduction of setting, situation and main characters); complication (the event of the story that introduces the conflict); rising action, crisis (the decisive moment for the protagonist and their commitment to a course of action); climax (the point of highest interest in terms of the conflict and the point of the story with the most action); resolution (the point of the story when the conflict is resolved); and moral.

The first 21 episodes do not tell a single story in this way, though it contains many self-contained stories, each with their own exposition-resolution. Story arcs don't include episodes that completely side-step the main story line, such as the introduction of Don Kanonji. Indeed towards the end of these 21 episodes we are treated to the exposition of, complication and part of the rising action of the Soul Society Story Arc. It seems completely arbitrary to treat these episodes as part of another "story arc." The only common thread is that the first 21 episodes take place in the physical world while the later episodes take place in the soul society. This isn't division by plot structure, its a division by location. Jaydubayubee 14:41, 26 October 2007 (EDT)

The first 21 episodes have been deemed as an "arc" not in terms of the literary definition, but for the ease of giving it a name, since everything else in the series can be seen as an "arc". More appropriately it is more of an introductory chapter, but "Hollow Arc" is the name widely given to it by many fans; it has also been referred to as the Shinigami Arc, and the Agent of the Shinigami Arc. The same argument can be made for the Arrancar Arc later in the series, which flows directly into the Hueco Mundo Arc immediately after reaching a climax, and before providing a resolution. - Xero XIII 03:13, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
