Overview
Cardcaptor Sakura follows the story of Sakura KINOMOTO, your average ten year old fourth-grader, after she opens a mysterious book she finds in her father's storage titled The Clow and accidentally releases all the Clow Cards inside to run amok in the district of Tomoeda. Also released is the sleeping guardian of the cards, Keroberos (fondly nicknamed "Kero-chan"), who explains to Sakura what exactly the Clow Cards are and, more importantly, what is now expected of her as the next cardcaptor. She is reluctant to accept her new role but, pressed (or tricked) by the magical being, she gives in. She is given a magical key which, when activated, turns into a wand that gives her the power to capture and use the Clow Cards. So begins Sakura's adventures as the new Cardcaptor.
The anime ran for three seasons, with two story arcs. The first, The Clow Card Arc, had Sakura running all around Tomoeda in search of all the released Clow Cards and transforming them back to their true form. It ran for 46 episodes (2 seasons) before concluding with the capture of all the Clow Cards and the triumph of Sakura against the Final Judgement of Yue.
The second, The Sakura Card Arc, introduced a new antagonist of sorts in the form of Eriol HIRAGIZAWA, a transfer student from England and the reincarnation of Clow REED. Eriol had Sakura convert all the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards because since their creator Clow was already dead, it would have only been a matter of time before the cards, who were drawing their power from the remnants of Clow's magic, died themselves. Transforming them all into Sakura Cards gave them a new source of power and solved the problem. The arc ran for 24 episodes before finally concluding with the defeat of Eriol by Sakura and her Sakura Cards. The final episode, though not really being that direct about it, had Sakura confessing (at least to herself) her love for Syaoran after he had left for Hong Kong. This was brought on because a few days earlier, Syaoran confessed his love for her.
The second movie Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie 2: The Sealed Card wrapped up the series with the story of the Nothing card, the Anti-Clow Card so to speak, and concluded with Sakura finally confessing to Syaoran how she really feels about him.
